Ledbury Tetrathlon Report 16/17th May 2009

Firstly can I start by thanking all those who helped over the weekend, it’s amazing the number of people you need to stage a tetrathlon of 4 events in 3 locations over 2 days.
Saturday
The entries were good and evenly split between the age groups. We started with shooting and bean bagging (for the tadpoles under 8s) at Whiting Ash Farm, then back to Gadbury for the run, which proved to be rather steep in places. Despite some sharp showers Gadbury was a great place for lunch then a walk around the cross country course, which included some of Darren Hunts new fences. The mobile phone in the junior class caused much discussion.
Swimming at Tewkesbury School was next, with the tadpoles starting, and concluding with the seniors.
Tadpole Triathlon
1st boy Alistair Pearce of the Ledbury Elms, and
1st girl Emma Hatherell of the Beaufort.
The Ledbury team was third, well done Hugh Ralli, Rosie Harris, Alice Cook and Fred Harper
Sunday
On Sunday the wind was blowing, the fence judges turned up, but then so did the rain, and as seems to be the way with the Ledbury tetrathlon everyone got wet.
The seniors/intermediates started the cross country. A brief rest bite in the weather to start the first of the juniors onto the course, but the weather closed in.
Again and the wind blew making the gate at the top of Gadbury Bank very difficult for the minis.
The results were
